Veterinarian required

Hours Negotiable. Mixed, Small animal only and New Graduates welcome to apply.

A position with flexible hours by negotiation is available for an enthusiastic and capable veterinarian to join our locally independently owned, family friendly and long established, 9 vet mixed practice in Drouin. This can be part time to full time hours, depending on your requirements as we understand the needs to balance work and personal life.

Our practice is a 35% large, 65% companion animal mix. The large animal component consists mainly of dairy cattle and equine, some beef, and alpaca and small numbers of sheep, goats and wildlife. We welcome applications from veterinarians with a strong interest in these large animal species. If companion animals are your preference, we have a caseload to accommodate you too. An ability to easily build rapport and communicate with clients will be an advantage.

We have a well-equipped clinic with an Idexx in house lab, full anaesthetic monitoring, dedicated theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasounds, tonovet and an IM3 dental workstation including a Vetome and dental radiography.

Our equine services are supported with the use of Portastocks, powerfloat drill, fixed equine stocks, ultrasound and a portable radiology unit. We also have 3 portable ultrasound units for cattle pregnancy diagnostics.

We have developed a staged new graduate plan to ensure that you smoothly transition to a practicing Veterinarian if you are fresh from university. You will be supported by our 9 experienced vets, 10 qualified and passionate vet nurses and 6 additional friendly and encouraging support staff.

We also have a small satellite clinic in the picturesque town of Neerim South. You would be based at our Drouin clinic and also occasionally attend house visits for clients that are unable to travel.

Salary is commensurate with experience. After hours and superannuation are on top of a base wage. We provide an after hours service for our clients and our vets are on a rotational on call roster of 1:6 weekends, plus one weeknight. You will have the support of experienced vets and nurses when on call. We encourage and support CE for both our Veterinary and Nurse teams.

Our regular business hours are from 8.30am-6pm Mon – Fri and 8.30am-12.30pm Saturday.

Drouin is a rapidly growing town in beautiful West Gippsland within one hours drive of Melbourne CBD and easy access to Mt Baw Baw snowfields to the north and the coast to the south.
