Experienced Veterinary nurse required
Casual position with potential for part time.
Shifts will include Saturday mornings and inclusion on a rotation after hours nurse on call roster.
About us:
Drouin Veterinary Clinic is an independently owned, well established, medium sized mixed practice located in Drouin, West Gippsland Victoria. 1 hour East of Melbourne.
We are on the search for an experienced Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse to fill in annual and sick leave shifts on a casual basis. These shifts will include some Saturday mornings from 8.30am-12.30pm and to also be on a nurse roster to assist our vets for small animal after hours emergency procedures and surgeries. This role involves a mix of surgery, reception and float duties.
We are a friendly team of 30 including 12 vets, 18 nurses and support staff. We see a wide variety of species including native animals, dogs, cats and exotic species like birds, ferrets, reptiles and rabbits. Our regular nurse shifts are anywhere from 7.30am-6.30pm Mon – Friday and Saturdays from 8.30-12.30pm. After hours is outside of these clinical hours.
Our nurse team will occasionally head out with our vets for house visits, and we see clients for cattle, horses, sheep, goats and alpacas so a background of farming species could be of assistance.
You would need to be located within 30 minutes of our Drouin clinic for after hours availability and have your own transport.
About you:
- Cert IV in Vet Nursing or equivalent experience
- At least one year of clinical nursing and anaesthetic experience
- Competence with performing blood collection, laboratory procedures, catheterisation, administration of medications, and performing nurse consultations and discharges.
- Comfortable working surgical shifts (anaesthetic monitoring, administering injectable medications, blood collection and IV placement)
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to deliver an exceptional customer care experience.
- Enthusiasm and ability for teamwork, but also the initiative and confidence to work unsupervised, when necessary, with adherence to clinic protocols and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well in a team and have a strong work ethic
- Experience with Ezyvet is ideal but not essential
